Welcome the summer

Yes, I know it's a little early to be thinking about the summer. But as I am currently in Cape Town, and the sun is shining I'm getting all excited about the spring and summer. To get you thinking about the upcoming fashion, I've uploaded the most inspiring and beautiful (in my opinion) ad campaigns voor S/S 2012. Please enjoy, and stay warm in the cold (having the sniffles is so not fashionable ;-)) Which are your favourite ads? Or have you found even more exciting ones since this post was published??? XOXO

Versace Take Two

One always loves a second shot, especially when it comes to being able to obtain another inspiring collection. We're lucky, H&M and Versace give their love a second chance.

This time round, their collection is called Cruise. Shot by
This pre-spring collection features summery shades and fruit prints for the ladies, and marine-style for the gents. Unlike the first collection that was based more on versatility with a modern touch featuring stand-out accessories that perfectly complemented the looks, the Cruise collection is much more trend oriented. Femininity in an innocent sense is fabulously reflected with the myriad of fruity prints that evoke the new season symbols perfectly combined with the summery pastel shades.

The entire collection will be available online from January 19. Online, so no need to rush to H&M stores with sharp elbows and a large portion of determination. 9am, be there or be square!

Something Old.. Something New.

This fabulous 'USED' bag made and photographed by Janne Igbuwe (janne-igbuwe@live.nl), inspired me to think about todays hot items which look like they have been used. I wouldn't call it vintage, as they'd have to be produced decades ago, but they do give that dated-but-fashionable feel.

Love the pastel pink of this coat. Perfect for the not so chilly days. Pastels are so 2012.
You can't go wrong with a Luella. And this classic 50s style pair of sunglasses will frame your face in such way giving you the edginess and softness in one. Dare you try?

A pair of skinny jeans cannot NOT be part of your wardrobe. You need a pair that will make you feel good every day. And these straight-cut jeans do precisely that. Even on not-so-good days your legs will look divinely long.

This is my favourite item, a mohair blazer. Has a very distinct feel and steps aside from the typical check blazer one would expect you to have (yes a checked item is a must-have no matter what season).

Brogues automatically give your outfit the vintage feel. Their shape, their pattern, their small heel. Options are endless you can wear them with trousers, skirts and dresses, and even if red is not so your colour, black is an option too.
Remember that Flower Power time? Remember not? Then ask your parents. This modern cut yet vintage feel blazer will flower up any outfit of yours!
A good pair of brown boots takes you a long way. They will match anything and everything. What I like particularly about this pair is that they have two shades of brown and two slightly different materials. 2012 is about layering different materials, shoes count as well..

What other items do you love which look vintage? Let me know! XOXO

A little treat for myself...

Matte finishes, moon manicures, metallics, cracked varnishes and nudes all make up the current nail scene. Everything seems possible. And when I say everything, I mean I was wearing neon orange last week to give all the gray, black and navy clothes I was wearing a pop of colour. Yesterday I was treated to a manicure and pedicure, and so the neon orange left my finger nails and coloured my toes, and now I'm wearing white on my nails. Yes, not just the tips, e-ve-ry-thing is white.

Not sure which colour you want, or you want to alternate every few days this festive season. try the Essie Winter Mini Collection:

Fancy a different pop of colour? Here is Kismit by Nars, a yellow polish that will bring a little sun to those dark mornings and early evenings..

Different colour for each day of Christmas? Use the OPI Correct and Clean Up pen to remove those last bid of red or other dark colours in the corner of your nails. Yes, tackle those hard-to-reach places.

A few days left until New Years Eve. Essie has bottled the night for you so that you can carefully paint it on your nails. Let them shine and sparkle like the fireworks with this lush silver.

Purple is still the colour of this season, not to mention that grey is always suited for the cold, dull weather. Solution: Purple Grey by Models Own.

My darling Misty who was also with me on the nail treat had her nails done in a pastel brown. The result is featured below:

To get her colour, try this varnish available at Asos by clicking on the pic!

In a hurry? Worry not. Let me (re)introduce you to Drip Dry Lacquer by O.P.I. Its quick: look, buy and dry.

This time round I went for an OPI manicure, but Nars is what I keep in my room at home when it comes to this delightful colour white. Will you go for snow-white too?? Wishing you happy (snow) holidays with perfect nails!! XOXO

Sangria Saturday

Oh how I wish it was sunny enough to have a mock - as I don't do alcohol - sangria drink. But as far as the weather goes, the closest I can get to the sweet flavoured drink is its colour (or a glass of deep red wine). I LOVE the burgundy red for this time of year, the warmth and deepness of the red is just right. And so I have selected some items which put you at fashion's height in this festive season! XOXO

Time for Christmas Socks

Only a few days left 'til Christmas, how excited are you? I am! And I shall be spending it in South-Africa this year, so no snow, but snow white beaches instead!

Stockings. Yes, the Christmas decorations are pretty much a must have now. But which tights and leggings are must-haves for ourselves?

These tights, feature a seamed design with embellished crystal detailing on the reverse. They are semi-sheer so perfect for the festive dinners.

Prefer wearing a dash of colour? Then I recommend these colour block stripe tights.

I just adore how the knee area is yellow. Combine these lovely tights with wearing black shoes, black top and jacket, and then perhaps some yellow accessories? What do you think?

"Sorry, how do you spell that??" Ha! Enjoy these lettered tights by House of Holland and you'll have
people staring at your legs trying to figure out if all the letters are on there.

I am not so much a suspender type myself, but I know quite a few girls out there are. And I have spotted many on the streets here in London. So here's my pick for you:

These fake suspender tights are ideal to combine with a short skirt or dress, best are the plain skirts or dresses so that it becomes not too much going on around your legs.

Then of course the classic pair of winter socks that reach over your knees are these:

The old-skool pattern is a must-have forever. Wear it this year, wear it next year. But whatever you do, don't forget that as much as you want a Christmas stocking, you need your own fashionable stocking too!

XOXO
